Here is a last minute preview of some Old Master items of interest, up for sale at Skinner Auctions in Boston.
Apparent bargains can be found with the Fuseli drawing (lot 405, if one can stomach the dreadful scene of Salome with the head of St. John), a beautiful rendering of a Goltzius print of “Minerva” by Jan Pietersz Saenredam (lot 252,) an exquisite portrait of “Christ with the Instruments of the Passion from the Cuzco school of the late 18th century” (lot 409,) and a possible sleeper, an anonymous portrait of a child, attributed to the British School of the 19th century (lot 467)

Minerva Leaning on Her Shield. Identified in the plate, John Witt Randall Collection and Fogg Art Museum duplicate stamps on the reverse. Engraving on laid paper with armorial watermark, plate size 13 1/2 x 10 in. (34.2 x 25.5 cm), hinged to backing mat, unframed.
Condition: Margins trimmed to just outside the plate mark, subtle toning and fox marks, thin spots to some corners, annotations to verso.
Provenance: Property of the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard Art Museum, sold to benefit the acquisition fund.
